The Windows volume mixer, on your phone.
Poti is a small program that sits next to your PC's clock. From your phone you can turn each app up, down or mute it, and pause or skip the song that's playing.

What it does on your PC
No installation
It's a single file. Open it, pair your phone from its window and it stays in the system tray, next to the clock. It doesn't need .NET or any other program.
It only touches sound
It changes the master volume and each app's volume, and uses Windows' own media controls, the same ones your keyboard's media keys use.
What goes through the server
Your phone and your PC talk through Poti's server over an encrypted connection. App names with sound, their icons and volumes go through it, plus what's playing: title, artist and artwork. The sound itself never leaves your PC.
The key your PC uses to sign in to the server is stored encrypted with your Windows user: copying it to another computer is useless.
What's stored and for how longSet it up once
It takes three steps and you only do it once. Keep the Poti app on your phone handy for the last one.
Download Poti.exe
Use the Download for Windows button and save it in a folder you won't delete, such as Documents.
Check that the file hasn't been changed
Open PowerShell in that folder and type:
Get-FileHash .\Poti.exeThe result must match this SHA-256 fingerprint:
0F620655E592544C0B79B58C2865D8393FFCB70ABCC0F3C9A4A3716B4A6F6A25Open it
There's nothing to install: double-click Poti.exe. Because the program isn't signed, Windows may show “Windows protected your PC”. Click “More info” and then “Run anyway”.
Pair your phone
When it opens, Poti's window shows a 6-character code. Enter it in the phone app within 5 minutes.
Done. Your phone shows your PC's name and the apps that are playing. If you want Poti to start on its own when you turn on your PC, turn on “Start with Windows” in its window. To open it again, click the Poti icon next to the clock (if you can't see it, it's under the ^ arrow).
Troubleshooting
Windows says it protected your PC
That's because the program isn't code-signed. Click “More info” and then “Run anyway”. If you don't trust the file, compare its SHA-256 fingerprint as explained in step 1.
I can't find Poti's window
When you close it, Poti keeps running in the system tray. Click its icon next to the clock (if you can't see it, it's under the ^ arrow) or open Poti.exe again.
The window says “No connection to the server”
Check that your PC is connected to the internet. If it is, Poti's server may not be working right now: try again later.
The code has expired
Each code lasts 5 minutes. Click “New code” in Poti's window and enter the new one.
My phone doesn't show any apps
At first, only apps that are playing show up. Play something, or turn on “Show apps that aren't playing” in the app's Settings.
A phone I no longer use is still paired
In Poti's window, under “Paired phones”, click “Remove” next to it. It stops being able to control your PC right away.
I want to remove it
In Poti's window, turn off “Start with Windows” and click “Exit Poti”. Then delete Poti.exe and, if you like, the %APPDATA%\Poti folder, where it keeps its settings. On your phone, use “Forget this PC” in Settings.
